is it really the end of working from home? or just the media hyped about it for clicks?
What do you think about the recent news on the ending of work from home?
Media is really pushing the usual narrative. Amazon and Tabcorp got tons of coverage, with headlines from Murdoch's papers shouting about how 'WFH is ending for millions,' even though they only have around 5,000 office staff in Australia.
Meanwhile, Telstra and Medibank came out today saying they support full flexibility and that it’s actually better for employee health. These two companies employ way more people than Amazon and Tabcorp, yet it’s like the media completely ignored them
Just say no and ignore any requests to come into the office.
We all know the deal: those managers often don’t really contribute; they just sit in meetings or take attendance. They’re worried about being seen as useless, and the longer they’re alone in the office, the more they panic that someone might realize they could be let go.
So, if you work from home, your boss saves a ton of money on office space, lights, and snacks. They don't have to pay for cleaning or all those long kitchen chats. Plus, it's super efficient because everyone can join meetings right from their desks.
Basically, if you think about it, we should actually get paid more for working from home because we're using our own stuff and working harder. COVID showed us that it totally works. The only people who want us back in the office are the ones who make money off of us getting stuck in crowded trains every day.
